LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The municipal council here approved a resolution extending processing of business permits and payment of local taxes without penalties, surcharges and fines until March 31.
Resolution 11-2022, authored by Councilor Nestor Fongwan Jr., will extend to local business owners the deadline who are still reeling from economic impact of the pandemic.
The resolution also coincides with the Dept. of the Interior and Local Government's advisory to local government units and Mayor Romeo Salda's request regarding aid to be extended to local businesses for their recovery.
Fongwan said the municipal government will look for ways to help taxpayers settle taxes and in processing their permits with concerned offices for gradual recovery of local economy.
While it is true that taxes are the lifeblood of the government, Fongwan said there is also a need for the local government to look after welfare of the populace by relaxing the deadline in the processing of permits and payment of local taxes.
