BONTOC, Mountain
Province -- A student died while his companion was injured after their
sports utility vehicle fell down a
50-meter ravine here along the Baguio-Bontoc Road here at Sitio Dantay,
Barangay Alab Wednesday morning.
The fatality was identified as Darryl Maggay, Reserve Officers' Training Corps cadet 1st class, corps commander at Mountain Province State Polytechnic College campus in Tadian town.
The other victim was identified as Sgt. Cornelio Cudli, a member of the Philippine Army and resident of Maba-ay, Bauko, also in Mountain Province.

Bontoc Police
said Cudli and Maggay were on board a white SUV that came from Baguio City.
When they
reached Dantay, Cudli lost control of the steering wheel and their vehicle making
it fall into the deep ravine.
Residents in
the area responded immediately and reached the victims who were rushed to the
Bontoc General Hospital.
The attending
physician later declared Maggay dead.
Cudli is
still being provided with close medical attention due to multiple head and body
injuries.
Probers are
conducting an investigation on the cause of the said accident.\
Police urged motorists
to observe extra precaution when traveling roads in the province.
