2 dead, 1 hurt in Baguio, Ilocos road accidents

BAGUIO CITY — A motorcycle rider died while his back rider suffered serious injuries when their vehicle rammed a taxi along Romulo Drive in front of The Mansion, the official residence of the president in this city.
    Hzean Carboro, 18, and his 17-year-old companion, both residents of Itogon, Benguet, came from Pacdal Circle and were on their way to Bua town when Carboro lost control of the vehicle.
    Carboro’s companion was taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
    In Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, a 53-year-old man died in the hospital after being hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) early morning of July 14 along the national highway.
    Police named the victim as Iluminado Duque Ulangco Sr., farmer here, of Barangay Bacar.
    The driver of the SUV was identified as Edward Simpliciano Balisacan, 42 resident of Barangay 6, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
    Police probers said the victim was about to cross the highway when the speeding vehicle struck him down.
    The incident was recorded in video footage.
    Ulangco was rushed by rescuers to the Magsingal District Hospital where he was declared dead by attending doctors.
    He suffered multiple injuries.
    The SUV driver was put under police custody.
