Trinidad, Benguet – A total of 47 wanted persons were arrested in Cordillera
from July 10 to 16.
Based on records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division for the week, Baguio City Police office recorded the highest number of arrests with 20 followed by Benguet Provincial Police Office with 14 arrests; Ifugao, Apayao and Abra PPO with four each and Kalinga with one.
At the regional level, Johnny Tao-il and Roel Saludi both listed as No. 2 wanted persons, were arrested by Abra and Baguio police for rape.
At the provincial level, Nikko Sabio listed no. 8, was nabbed by Benguet police also for rape.
At the station level, Almer “Rudy” Ofiana listed no. 4, was arrested by Baguio police for syndicated estafa including Sario Litawan, listed no. 8 for violation of the National Internal Revenue Code.

Alcala’s top most wanted person nabbed in N. Ecija

ALCALA, Pangasinan -- A fugitive listed as number one most wanted person here was arrested by police authorities during a manhunt operation in Nueva Ecija afternoon of July 17.
Joint operatives of Guimba Police, 303rd Maneuver Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3, 3rd Platoon Base, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Alcala Police conducted a manhunt operation in Barangay Sta. Monica, Rizal, Nueva Ecija that resulted in the arrest of Elpidio Santua, 55, a resident of Barangay San Vicente, Alcala.
He was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest for rape issued by Junius Fernandez Dalaten, presiding judge of RTC Branch 50, Villasis, Pangasinan.
The court’s recommended bail for his temporary liberty was P120,000.
“We will continuously launch operations to account and arrest all persons sought by law to rid our communities of lawless elements,” said Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, director of Region 3 Police Regional Office in Camp Olivas, Pampanga.
“One criminal off the street accords our citizens sound sleep,” he added.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man listed as number one most wanted in Apalit, Pampanga was also arrested by police authorities in Bulacan on July 17.
Police identified the arrested as Alexander Sarmiento, a construction worker and resident of Barangay Tabuyuc, Apalit, Pampanga.
He was arrested following arrest warrant for lasciviousness issued by Katherine Legarda Pajaron, presiding judge, RTC, Branch 54, Macabebe, Pampanga dated July 7, 2022.
The recommended bail was P200,000.

personalities” are now facing charges for illegal drugs after they were caught
in buy-bust operations in Baguio and Benguet on July 18.
Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen, Ronald O. Lee identified the suspects as Chester Abellera Lopez, 26 and Leo Suyat Bumatay, 32.
In Barangay Betag, La Trinidad, Lopez was arrested by town police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera agents after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.15 grams worth of P1,020.
In Barangay Kayang, Baguio City, Bumatay was nabbed by cops of Legarda and Abanao Police Stations including City Drug Enforcement Unit after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu weighing of 0.5 grams and valued at P3,400.
Inventory of the seized items was witnessed at sites suspects and representatives from the Dept. of Justice, barangay officials and media representatives.
The suspects and confiscated items were brought into custody of concerned police stations where cases for illegal drugs were prepared against them.

3 men slain in Ecija checkpoint ‘shootout’

CABANATUAN CITY — Three motorcycle riders were killed in an alleged shootout with police manning a checkpoint in Nueva Ecija on Monday night.
Reports reaching Col. Jess Mendez, acting provincial police director, showed the three, who have yet to be identified, refused to pull over at the checkpoint in Barangay Gomez in Llanera town.
The police report said a shootout occurred when the three fired at pursuing law enforcers.
Authorities said three 9mm pistols and the two motorcycles with no license plate that were used by the suspects were recovered.
