LGU worker shot dead in Tuguegarao

TUGUEGARAO CITY – An LGU (local government unit) employee was gunned down here at around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, in Bassig St., Ugac Norte this city.
    The Cagayan Valley cops readily conducted a hot pursuit operation at press time for the possible arrest of the perpetrator.
    The Cagayan Valley Cops identified the victim as Gerero Matammu, 57, an LGU employee and a resident of Arellano Ext, Tuguegarao City.
    Police said the victim was having a conversation with his cousin, Ruiz Mabborang, in a talipapa when an unidentified gunman shot him four to five times.
    The victim sustained multiple wounds and died on the spot.
    The gunman fled in the south direction of Bassig Street, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao on board a black motorcycle without a plate number.
    Tuguegarao City Chief of Police Lt. Col. Edith Narag immediately ordered a manhunt operation against the suspect.
    “Inaasahan na matutukoy ang salarin sa pamamagitan ng kuha ng CCTV na malapit sa pinangyarihan ng krimen,” police said.
