CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad,
Benguet -- Seven “drug personalities” were arrested while P2,506,000 worth of
marijuana plants was uprooted and burned in plantations July 31 to August 6 in
Cordillera.
Records of police Regional Operations Division bared Baguio had highest number of arrests with six, followed by Apayao with one.
In Baguio City, arrested were Marivic Rodriguez, 61; Cherry Alsim, 37; Carlito Javier, 43; Joel Sales, 37; Margie Maaba, 44; and Carie Maaba, 42.
In Apayao, arrested was Claridel Mangligot, 42.
Anti-illegal drug operations resulted in seizure of a total of 18.4 grams of suspected shabu worth P125,120.
All arrested suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, marijuana eradication operations resulted in destruction of a total of 12,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P2,400,000 in Kalinga.
In another operation in Benguet, a total of 480 fully grown marijuana valued at P96,000.00 and 250 marijuana seedlings worth P10,000 were destroyed by police.
