Baguio City cops nab 506 wanted persons in 6 months


BAGUIO CITY – Police here arrested some 506 persons with standing warrants of arrest in the city over the past six months.
     City police director Col. Glen Lonogan said of the arrested wanted persons, were regional level wanted individuals, 29 city level, four provincial level, eight municipal and 121 station level.
    Lonogan said 335 other wanted persons were arrested.
    On anti-illegal drugs, Lonogan said city police conducted 119 anti-drug operations during the first six months of the year.
    He added 114 drug personalities were arrested while a total of P221.3723 worth grams of shabu, 921.04 grams of marijuana and 585 ml. of marijuana oil with a total market value of P1,725,531 was confiscated.
     There were reportedly 79 operations against loose firearms that led to  confiscation of four illegal guns  while 75 assorted firearms were surrendered.
    He said four individuals were also arrested and charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Revised Firearms Law.
    According to him, law enforcers apprehended 20 persons in four anti-gambling operations.
    Arrested persons were charged for violation of Presidential decree 1602 or the Anti-Gambling Law.
    On aggressive implementation of traffic rules and regulations, Lonogan said some 46,694 erring motorists were apprehended that resulted in payment of more than P20.2 million fines during the first six months of the year. - Dexter A. See
