LAOAG CITY -- Ilocos Norte First District Rep. and First Son Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos formally opened his congressional district office at the La Tabacalera Complex in Laoag City on Thursday
"Taos-puso po akong nagpapasalamat dahil sa wakas ay natapos na ang aking District Office. Ang sinabi ko lang sa team ko ay kailangan galingan talaga namin kasi kung hindi aabot ng nine years, sayang lang ang kagandahan nito," Congressman Marcos, a political neophyte, quipped.
The initial composition of his office includes the Medical Division and Community Affairs Division.     Even before the opening, the representative's office has been helping Ilokanos who require medical, financial, and agricultural support. It has also committed to helping the grassroots by responding to the requests of various barangay councils.
At present, the office is finalizing its educational assistance to cater to students who are deserving of scholarship grants.
Among the attendees of the event are Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc, members of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Board headed by Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and Sangguniang Kabataan officials, representatives of national government agencies, the Chinese Consulate delegation, uniformed officers and personnel, and leaders of the Ilocos Norte United Muslims Association.
"It’s a great honor and pleasure to welcome you here at [La] Tabacalera, which, of course, is a property of the provincial government, and we are very humble to lease it out ito pong bagong opisina ng ating congressman. I am sure, much much noble work and help will be conducted sa office na ito. Congratulations to you all," Gov. Marcos Manotoc said.
The office was designed by an all Ilokano team of engineers and architects. It was furnished with some locally made and sourced furniture and accentuated with heritage crafts and works by local artists.
"I hope this is the continuation ng pagtulong sa ating mga kakailian (province-mates) at umaasa ako na pagkatapos ng aking termino dito sa distrito, at pinaganda talaga natin ang Ilocos Norte, at maraming tao tayong natulungan dahil sa ating mga ginagawa, I hope that this office will be put to good use and I hope that we will encourage our kakailian na pumunta dito para humingi ng tulong at makatanggap ng ano mang kailangan nila," Rep. Marcos said. "I am grateful for the privilege and honor of serving the first district of Ilocos Norte."
This, as Rep. Marcos announced that he has secured at least P 550 million in funding from government agencies, with P 100 million in “assistance to individuals in crisis situations,” P150 million in “tulong panghanapbuhay sa ating disadvantaged/displaced workers,” P 150 million for medical assistance to indigent patients and P 150 million for local government support fund.
For assistance, visit the congressional district office at La Tabacalera Complex, next to Museo Ilocos Norte in Laoag City, and bring an updated certificate of residency or indigency, a photocopy of a valid identification card, and relevant documents for your requests, such as a medical certificate or prescription.
