Bontoc wins national reg’l gov’t awards

BONTOC, Mountain Province – This capital town of Mountain Province was conferred four awards to include two national awards and two from the region.
    Bontoc is one among only four local government units in Mountain Province awarded the “high functionality rating” in the 2022 National Anti-drug Abuse Councils Performance Award.
    Bontoc was conferred the said award for the third time having been awarded in the years 2019 and 2020.
    Bontoc mayor Jerome "Chagsen" Tudlong, Jr., sanggunian bayan member Glenn Bacala, MLGOO Lourdes Claire Peel, municipal treasurer Lourdes Austria, municipal budget officer Aida Lingbanan, and municipal accountant Yolanda Comafay received said award at  Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila Dec. 13.
    Meanwhile, the 5th “Seal of good local governance (SGLG)” award was received on Dec. 14, 2022, at the Manila Hotel.
    Bontoc remains the only SGLG awardee in Mountain Province and SGLG hall of famer after having been conferred the prestigious honor for the years 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022.
    The Bontoc local government also received a certificate of achievement from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) Dec. 14 at Hotel Supreme in Baguio City, after being ranked as Top 1 earner of locally-sourced revenues in 2021 among ALL 2nd class municipalities in Cordillera Administrative Region
    The Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council was rated “Beyond compliant” in the 2022 Gawad Kalasag Seal for Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils and Offices.
    “Beyond compliant” ratings are given to those LGUs which exceeded standards for  establishment and functionality of LDRRMCOs as prescribed under Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 10121. 
    The awarding was held at Newtown Plaza Hotel, Baguio City, on Dec. 15 attended by Mayor Tudlong, MDRRMO Johanna Padaen, and LDRRMO II Meilynne Shalom Ayan.
