PARACELIS, Mountain Province -- The quick
response of cops here resulted in the arrest of a suspect for illegal possession
of a firearm Dec. 20.
A report submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Mafelino A. Bazar identified suspect as Conrado Polito Sumalag, 30, of Barangay Poblacion.
Police said they received a phone call from a concerned citizen asking for immediate police assistance informing them that a male person was under the influence of liquor sleeping dead drunk with a handgun tucked on his waist at a vacant house along the Paracelis-Natonin road.
Police immediately went to the area and pulled out the firearm tucked on the waist of Sumalag.
When asked for of said firearm, suspect Sumalag failed to show prompting police to arrest him.
Seized from the suspect was a Cal. 38 revolver loaded with two bullets.
The arrested suspect and gun were brought to Paracelis police station where charges for Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were prepared against him.
