Bontoc cited for ‘Good financial housekeeping’

BONTOC, Mountain Province –Bontoc was one of Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) Passers for the year 2022, according to a report by the Dept. of the Interior and Local Government released Tuesday, Feb. 7.
    The municipality has also consistently passed the GFH since 2014 and had previously received the Seal of Good Housekeeping (now called Good Financial Housekeeping) in 2011 and 2012.
    The Provincial Government of Mountain Province including nine municipalities of the province also passed the DILG’s criteria for GFH.
    The GFH seeks to recognize local governments that excel in financial transparency.
    It is one of the components of the DILG’s Seal of Good Local Governance introduced in 2014.
Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., relayed that good financial management is crucial in the further development of the community.
    “This award manifests the commitment and dedication of the Bontoc local government unit in ensuring funds are efficiently used for the betterment of our town,” he added.
