SANTA ANA, Cagayan – Fifteen passengers of a motorized boat that partially submerged in the waters of Barangay San Vicente in this town on Good Friday, April 7, were rescued.
Around 3 p.m., the motorized boat Jhon Lea was spotted by the search and rescue team in the vicinity of Barangay San Vicente approximately 300 meters away from the shoreline.
Personnel of the Coast Guard Station-Cagayan and Coast Guard Sub-station Santa Ana immediately rescued the 15 passengers who were then transported to the Port of San Vicente for medical attention.
Report said the boat submerged because it was overloaded.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Coast Guard Sub-station Aparri West performing Baywatch patrol sighted a drowning person within the vicinity waters off Barangay Bagu, Abulug, Cagayan.
The Coast Guard personnel were also able to rescue the man, identified as Benjie Malaga, 19, a resident of Tabuk, Kalinga.
