LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Baguio reigned during the 3rd Strawberry Festival Rapid Chess Tournament held in this capital town besting over 135 participants.
Tournament director Carlos Mama-o Jr. said this was the first time the activity was opened to non-residents of La Trinidad to up the challenge among chess players. Baguio City resident and University of the Cordilleras chess coach Conrado D. Agaton III, won first place in Open Division after 7 rounds swiss system and computerized pairing in playing with various chess geniuses.
In second place was Galo Negpatic, followed by Daryl Penaflorida in third place.
Meanwhile, in the Kiddies division, Baguio residents were sequentially on the list of the top finishers.
Arvin John Padtoc won
first place in the Kiddies category, followed by Angel Kipong, and Dwayne Tyler
Dulnuan in third place.
