P480-K marijuana burned; 4 nabbed in PNP operations


BAGUIO CITY -- A total of P37,603 worth of shabu was seized from four  drug suspects while P480,000 worth of marijuana plants was burned after anti-illegal drug operations in Baguio City, Mountain Province, and Benguet on March 21. Based on the reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr., arrested were Anna-Lynn Lee, 50; Francisco Corpuz Jr., 25; David Eguid, 43 and Jodell Montealegre, 18.
    In Barangay Fairview, Baguio City, police arrested suspect Corpuz, Jr. after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu weighing of 0.9 grams valued at P6,120 to a lawman who posed as buyer.
    In Barangay Pinget in the city, personnel of Camdas Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Baguio agents arrested Lee after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.47 grams worth P3,196 to an agent.
    In Mountain Province, Paracelis town police arrested Eguid, and Montealegre after they were caught in a drug session in Barangay Bantay. 
    Seized from the two were suspected shabu weighing 4.1599 grams worth P28,287.32.
Inventory of seized items was done on site witnessed by arrested suspects and representatives from the Dept. of Justice, media and barangay officials.
    Meanwhile, cops discovered three marijuana plantation sites and burned 480 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P480,000 in Sitios Lingey and Pakak in Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet.
    Investigation is on to apprehend cultivators of the illegal plants.
