P.5 million MJ bricks found at checkpoint

KAPANGAN, Benguet – Town police intercepted and confiscated nine marijuana bricks worth half a million pesos in a passenger bus bound for Baguio City on Sept. 9 at about 6:30 a.m.

Prior to the operation, troops set up a check point along Lomon Junction, Paykek in the town where they flagged down a Dakiwagan View Bus Liner that came from Sapdaan, Sagpat, Kibungan town.

Police said the bus had plate number AYR 700 and driven by Peter Dalocdoc, 46, of Balakbak, Kapangan.

He was with his conductor identified as Javier Kantala when police asked the conductor if it was alright to open the running board compartment to check the baggage inside as part of routine checkpoint procedure to which the said conductor agreed.

As a result, operatives discovered the nine marijuana bricks wrapped in red plastic and sealed with transparent packaging tape placed inside a cardboard box.
The contraband weighed nine kilos.

The driver and conductor together with the passengers of the bus, said they did not know the owner of the marijuana bricks.

The confiscated marijuana bricks were brought to the town police station.
