UMINGAN, Pangasinan – At least 20 houses as well as several hectares of rice fields were destroyed in Barangay Lubong in this town when a tornado hit the area afternoon of Sept. 11.
Chief Insp. Jesus Manalo, officer-in-charge of the town police station said the tornado also felled electric posts and uprooted some trees.
No one was reported injured but affected families said they were traumatized by the tornado.
Affected folk were still repairing their homes at press time even as local officials had yet to pledge help.
Workers from the province’s electric firm were also restoring the posts at press time while Environment workers cut the felled trees.
Locals said the tornado was the first of its kind in this town at the eastern part of the province where farming is the main source of constituents’ livelihood.
