Tinoc town sets P2.3M for poverty alleviation

TINOC, Ifugao -- The municipal government here has allotted P2,340,600 as its counterpart for the implementation of alleviating poverty in this remote town.

The funding was for Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan: Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Makamasang Tugon Batch 3 in barangays.

Esther P. Juan, program area coordinator, said the national government through the Department of Social welfare and Development granted P5.4 million purposely for the implementation of the KALAHI-CIDSS Makamasang Tugon which was augmented by the municipal government.

“At present, we have a total of P7,740,600 to fund the different projects under the program to be implemented in the 12 barangays of the municipality,” she added.

The program area coordinator said beneficiaries will determine projects to address the concerns of their respective community.

Juan said the program would only fund economic support infrastructure, physical infrastructure, basic service infrastructure and capability building activities.

She also explained that all projects and activities to be implemented under the program should be finished within one year, however they had targeted to accomplish all within seven months, three months ahead of the set schedule.

Juan said that Tinoc has implemented various projects previously under the KALAHI-CIDSS Makamasang Tugon Batches 1 and 2 where the municipality bagged an award in 2003 for implementing the program successfully.
