DPWH exec to grace SVS centennial rites

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Highways Assistant Secretary for Northern Luzon, Roy L. Manao, will be the guest speaker for Saint Vincent’s Elementary School’s 100 years celebration slated here Oct. 23 to 30.

The week-long celebration of one of the oldest Catholic schools in the region has its theme “Remembering, reuniting, revisioning, moving on.”

Activities have been lined up to provide meaning and significance to this great celebration.

It is highlighted by the coronation of the Mr. & Ms. Saint Vincent Centennial and Grand Alumni International Homecoming.

Other activities include medical mission, sportsfest, variety shows, concerts and booth display that will showcase facets of SVS and the community where it stands.

Meanwhile, Manao, of SVES Batch 1962 and SVHS Batch1966, was named Assistant Secretary first semester of 2010.

He was brought to his position more than 30 years of work experience as a licensed civil engineer.

He was a casual employee in 1972 as Civil Engineer Aide II and later became district engineer, assistant regional director and regional director until his current position.

Manao finished his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1971 at the St. Louis University, Baguio City and his Master in Public Administration in 1995 at the Baguio Central University.

He was born Sept. 26, 1948 in Bontoc.

He married Eugenia Lorenzano and is blessed with seven children.
