By Peter A. Balocnit

TABUK CITY, Kalinga - - The SangguniangPanlalawigan (passed two resolutions seeking assistance from senators for construction of farm-to-market roads in Pinukpuk town, this province.

The twin measures aimed to develop access of communities to the developed center and bring their products via this transport system to the market.

Resolution No. 161 authored by Board Member Deogenes Gupaal requested Sen. Manuel Villar to allocate P5 million for the construction of the Allanguigan-Apatan farm-to-market road.

The other one, also filed by Gupaal, requested Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to allocate P3 million for the construction of the Limos FMR. Both resolutions were unanimously approved by the SP and the Governor.

The SP members who conducted visited the places have seen the hardships of the settlers carrying manually the sick on a hammock to the hospital and their products to the road for transport to the market.

Likewise, goods from the market are also carried by foot to the households which makes life in those remote barangays a tale and mirror of poverty.

“Construction of these two vital links will also help these communities develop their agriculture potentials towards the attainment of food security,” Gupaal said.

During the deliberation of the resolutions, the SP explained that since the province could not afford to fund all its development needs, they have to source out from the outside financial providers.

Pinukpuk is a banana, corn, and palay production area.
