Baguio cops arrest 4 men in holdups, heists

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested four suspects tagged in a series of crimes like taxi holdups and robbery of business establishments here and nearby Benguet towns last week.
           
Police senior Insp. Bernabe Camba, Station 1 police commander in his report to Senior Supt. David Q. Lacdan, city police director identified the the arrested suspects as: Rexon A. Gawagen, Gibson P. Carchingan, Venis M. Liwan and Junjun M. Chavez.
           
Lacdan said the four were arrested after they were tipped off by informants.
           
The first suspect arrested by the police in Mirador-Dominican area was Gawagen, 24, native of Natonin, Mountain Province who yielded a Cal.45 pistol, a black bonnet, pieces of wire and one back pack.
           
He was a resident of the area.
           
Carchingan, 25, also of Natonin, and resident of Barangay Kias here yielded Cal.38 revolver when arrested at Dominican-Mirador.
           
In follow-up operations, police arrested Liwan and Chavez along Asin Road.
           
Liwan, jobless also from Natonin, and Chavez, 27, resident of Sunnyside Fairview here were identified by taxi drivers who were victims of robberies.
           
Police investigators are now investigating the four suspects’ involvement on robberies of lodging houses based on evidence confiscated from them and testimonies of victims.
           
Lacdan urged victims of robberies in Baguio and Benguet  to immediately get in touch with the main city police station below city hall so charges would be filed against the arrested suspects.

All suspects are now detained and would be subjected to inquest proceedings by the Baguio Prosecutors Office.
