P.2M marijuana destroyed in Tabuk; hashish seized in Bontoc



CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – More than 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants having a total market value of at least P200,000 were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during a marijuana eradication operation at sitio Wa-in, barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga morning of Nov. 7 while marijuana bricks were seized in Bontoc, Mountain Province last week.

Chief Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong, regional police director, said  government troops destroyed marijuana plants planted on land area of around 2,500 square meters.

After the marijuana eradication operation, police and anti-narcotics agents led by Senior Insp. Pinkihan proceeded to Barangay Buscalan to conduct information drive on hazards of illegal marijuana trade.

The operating units were composed of elements from the Kalinga provincial police office and the 3rd Manuever Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion.

In Mountain Province, suspected marijuana bricks where found in a parcel delivered at JRS Branch Sub-ang, Bontoc.

Chief Insp.Dyann B Bangcawayan earlier responded to a report from  Clement Padsing Pomekcha, the branch manager that suspected hashish wrapped with cellophane was in their office.

Investigation showed that the parcel was received by Reagan Lee Kut-om Moko, Counter Clerk of the branch on Nov. 5.

It was allegedly sent by a person whose name was not identified.  The next day, Pomekcha inspected the said items and found the marijuana hashish.

The operation yielded three marijuana bricks weighing 320 grams with an estimated market value of P8, 000.00 pesos.

The inventory was made at Bontoc police station in the presence of  Erlinda Bucaycay, barangay Captain of Poblacion, Bontoc and Mr. Angel Baybay as media representative. – Dexter A. See
