San Fernando gears as premier city of Ilocandia

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — This city is setting its sights on becoming the premier capital city of Ilocandia by 2020 and the city government is already making early preparations through its “Oplan: Urnos, Talged ken Talna (order, safety and peace).

Part of the master plan for this city’s rise as the region’s new capital for economy and tourism is addressing security concerns in the central business district of the city.

Engineer Leocadio C. Balanon Jr., the strategic team leader, said the plan will set instruments and regulations to create, monitor and maintain drainage and sewerage sytems, traffic congestion, unregulated use of roads and walkways; and to strengthen the city’s capacity to implement, monitor and evaluate ordinances and laws. -- Freddie G.
