‘Drug dealer’ lobs grenade at police; eludes arrest
BAGUIO CITY – A polic e team was nearly killed when an alleged illegal drug dealer they were out to arrest lobbed a grenade at them. 

A police report said the incident happened  about 9:30 p.m,. on Dec. 2 when police led by Senior Insp.  Armando Lorete Jr. conducted buy-bust operation at the apartment of one Khalid “Bading” Dangananna here at 306 Supitan, Barangay San Vicente.
               
Police said when an undercover cop handed the money,Dangananna sensed the presence of operatives and brought out two grenades.

Lorete immediately alarmed the other operatives and grabbed one of the grenades.

However, the suspect was able to remove the safety pin of the other grenade prompting the operatives together with the family of the suspect to run outside the apartment.

The suspect threw the grenade at the operatives which exploded at a canal and immediately fled towards Panta Road, San Vicente.

The operatives chased the suspect but he was able to get away.
               
Police recovered a back pack of the suspect containing his Philippine passport (bearing the name of the suspect and two sachets containing “shabu”.
               
A police team led by Police Senior Insp. Armando Phiquiana later investigated the scene and found fragments of the exploded grenade. No person was injured during the operation.

10 more wanted persons arrested in Cordillera
CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet - Ten wanted persons, including the top most wanted person in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, were recently arrested by police.

Senior Supt. Angelito Casiminro, Ifugao provincial police director, identified Alfonso Lista’s TMWP as Darmo Cacaret Wasigan, 24, farmer of SitioPalutan, Anonat who was charged for robbery with double homicide committed on July 2012. 

He robbed the Caddiente couple and got their P 150,000 cash and killed them along the provincial road in Little Tadian, Alfonso Lista.Wasigan was arrested in SitioPalutan, Anonat, Paracelis, Mountain Province on Nov. 22.

Also arrested were: Jojo Alcalde Alvis, 30, laborer and a resident of Nagbalitangan, Bucay, Abra for homicide; Lorenzo Lizardo Claro, 30 and Alfredo Lizardo Claro, 32, both farmers of Poblacion La Paz, Abra, for serious physical injuries.

Arrested for estafa were Angelica Taguri Bugtong alias “Angelica Tomilas Lucas,” 31, of Bay-o, Balili, Mankayan, Benguet and Esnor Ameron Ampuan, 18, of Marawi City, Mindanao and resident of Synita Building, Baguio City. Both were arrested in their respective residences.

Meanwhile, Juliet Avenay VeIIanueva, 48, instructor and resident of Irisan, Baguio City and Benita C. Ayson, 54, of Bario Sacgud, San Fernando, La Union were nabbed for violation of BP 22 (anti bouncing check law).

Two other persons named as June Klyne Balabat Bedking, 24, of km 4, Pines Park, La Trinidad, Benguet and Donel Cacanando Ursabia, 47, of Leonilla Hill, Baguio City, were also nabbed for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property.

Jeep driver nabbed for selling shabu 
BAGUIO CITY -- A shabu dealer, who works as a passenger jeepney driver, was entrapped here around 2 a.m. Dec. 5 for selling shabu valued at P5,000.
               
Narcotics agents identified the suspect as Josephino Balanon y Quizada, 44,of Honeymoon Road, Baguio City and native of San Gabriel, La Union.
               
Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency  – Cordillera  apprehended Balanon in an entrapment operation at Barangay Bakakeng Norte.

Balanon sold about .87 grams of shabu to a PDEA – CAR agent, who acted as buyer during the anti-drug operation.
               
Balanon will be charged in court for illegal drugs.

P1M marijuana confiscated from twoTinoc farmers  
BAGUIO CITY -- Two marijuana dealers, from Tinoc, Ifugao, were busted recently with more than P1 million  worth of marijuana at a sidewalk at the bus terminal here in Gov. Pack Road.

During the sting operation, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency– Cordillera arrested vegetable farmers Crisanto Milio, 26 of Ahin, Tinoc, Ifugao and Joel Paday-o, 24, also of Ahin.

The two suspects had traded the 19 bricks of dried marijuana fruiting tops to a PDEA agent, who posed as buyer during the operation Dec. 3 around 9:30 p.m, 

The confiscated marijuana bricks weighed 16,991.53 grams which was valued at P1,274,364.

 The marijuana bricks were wrapped in newspaper bound by tape, and packed in two cartons and placed in two bags.

Criminal cases for illegal drugs were set to be filed against the two.

Buguias drug dealer gets life term, fined P500K
ABATAN, BUGUIAS, Benguet -- A shabu dealer was recently meted out life term by the Regional Trial Court here and ordered fined half a million pesos.

Nicanor Dayaoen, 35 this this town was sentenced Dec. 2, 2013, to life imprisonment by the First Judicial Region’s RTC Branch 64 here by Agapito K. Laoagan Jr., presiding judge of RTC Branch 64.

The “shabu” evidence, weighing .03 grams was ordered by the court to be destroyed, to prevent use.
               
Nearly three years prior to conviction, Dayaoen was busted at Abatan, when he sold shabu for a thousand pesos, to an agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Cordillera in an operation on Dec. 14, 2010.

Cop shot while chasing thief
MANGATAREM, Pangasinan – A policeman who was chasing a thief on the roof of a bank was shot and wounded by a security guard in Barangay Agcaoile here Nov. 29.

PO2 Ronald Allan Ragudo, 36, of Mayantoc, Tarlac, was on the roof of the Gulf Bank when security guard Mario Saura, 34, fired several shots.

Saura was at their barracks when he shot Ragudo who was rushed to the Velasquez  Clinic for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Saura surrendered to responding policemen and turned over the shotgun he used in the incident.

P’sinan top cop denies knowing witness in town mayor’s murder
DAGUPAN CITY – Pangasinan police director Senior Supt. Marlou Chan denied allegations against him by an alleged star witness who had recanted his statement in the killing of Infanta town mayor last year.

Chan told Bombo Radyo Dagupan last week he never knew the 16-year-old boy and had never talked or mingled with him.

The witness on Nov. 28 recanted his statement against Gov. Amado Espino. Jr. and Rep. Jesus Celeste whom he tagged earlier as masterminds in the killing of Infanta mayor Ruperto Martinez.

He claimed he allegedly overheard Espino and Celeste plotting the murder of Martinez.

“Never in my entire life did I have any connection with him,” Chan said in reaction to the boy’s allegations that he accompanied him to the lawyer to give his testimony.

The National Bureau of Investigation used the boy’s statement as basis for the filing of murder charges against Espino and Celeste.

However, the boy slipped from Camp Crame where he was held under custody under the Witness Protection Program and sought  Espino’s and Celeste’s forgiveness. 

Chan said he never met nor talked with the boy and there was never a chance that they were together.

“I have nothing to do with him, that accusation as far as I am concerned, is false,” he said.

Meanwhile, lawyer Leonido “Bodie” Pulido, whom the boy claimed as the one who prepared his testimony expressed worry about the witness’ condition.

“I want to know under whose custody is the child now? Who called the press conference and who were with him?” Pulido said.

He said the Court of Appeals had ruled that the witness should be under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Pulido described as absurd and unbelievable the witness’ claims that he forced him to sign documents implicating the governor and the lawmaker in the murder case.

Soldier killed in clash with NPAs
BALBALAN, Kalinga – A soldier was killed while three others were wounded in a firefight with New People’s Army guerrillas here night of Nov. 28.

Reports reaching the 5th Infantry Division at Camp Upi in Gamu town identified the fatality as Pfc. Mike Quisagan of Enrile, Cagayan and the wounded as Cpl. Elvis Unida and Pfcs. Elvis Macario and Albert Abordo, all of the Army’s 17th Infantry Battalion.

 The troops were on patrol in the village of Maling when they encountered the rebels.

Drunk bocap shoots wife
BAGUIO CITY – A drunk barangay tanod here, got into an argument with his wife, shot the roof of their house but thew bullet ricocheted hitting the latter.  

A police report said the incident happened around 8 p,m of Nov. 28 here  in Purok 8 Extention, Kias.
The victim was identified as Fatima Daluping De La Cruz, 44, while the suspect was named as Ben Coritog De La Cruz, 52.

Investigation disclosed the suspect who was under the influence of liquor and the victim had a heated argument due to financial problems.

Upon reaching their house, the suspect took a Cal. 38 revolver and fired hitting the right arm of the victim prompting her to call for help.

The suspect together with his daughter rushed the victim to Baguio General Hospital for treatment.
 Police later arrested the suspect and confiscated the firearm.

Buguias jueteng bet collector arrested  
BUGUIAS, Benguet -- A 47- year old man was arrested for illegal gambling after he was caught collecting bets here at Kikay’s Liquor Store, Upper Abatan on Nov. 27.

A team of Buguias police and Criminal Investigation Detection Group arrested Dindo Polinget Bad-ol, of Dakodak, Tadian, Mountain Province.

Confiscated from his possession were P 10,050.00 cash bets and other jueteng paraphernalia. 

Police jailed Bad-ol and confiscated cash bets and jueteng paraphernalia.

Young man arrested for rape
LAMUT, Ifugao – Police arrested a certain Leaf Earl Santos Maddul, 17 here for rape following arrest warrant issued by Judge Romeo Habbiling of the Regional Trial Court.

Habbiling recommended bail of P120,000 for Maddul’s temporary liberty.

Maddul was brought to Lamut police station and later turned over to the lcaol Welfare office.
    
5 post bail after being charged for mineral theft
TADIAN, Mountain Province – Eight individuals charged for stealing mineral products posted bailafter they surrendered local police on Nov. 26,

Senior Supt. William Vitiño, Mountain Province police director, identified the surrenderees as Wong WaiLun, Greg Sungbatin Gaceta, Honorato Basingil Agustin, Joaquin Regggie Valdez, Jose Ragas Posadas, Sonny Rey Gregorio Boyonen, Lee Matbagan Bal-ot and Branson Bambilla Dapnisan.

Two other individuals, allegedly involved in stealing  are still at large and were named as Zhao Yu Fang and Sonny Ray Gregorio.

Cordillera’s No. 6 top most wanted, 4 others arrested  
CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Five wanted individuals, one of them the No. 6 top most wanted person in the region were recently arrested.
               
Benguet police arrested Nov. 26 Cordillera’s No.6 TMWP who had been hiding for 17 years in his residence in Upper Balan Gubung, Watwat, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.

Senior Supt.  Rodolfo  Azurin,  Benguet provincial police director identified the wanted individual as Teodoro  Tokak Gaoey, 46, of Nagawa, Bauko Mountain Province.

He was charged for four counts of rape with no bail recommended by Judge AgapitoLaoagan Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 64.  

Gaoey allegedly committed the crime in 1996 in Abatan, Buguias,Benguet wherein the victim was a minor.
               
Four other wanted persons were likewise nabbed in different parts of the region on Nov. 27.


Police identified them as Reynaldo Castillo Badua, 51, of Labsan St., Baguio City for violence against women, Jayson Mat-an Tinay, 23, of Kamog, Sablan, Benguet for child abuse; Marcial Bahatan Binalgan, 34, miner who was arrested in his residence in Camanggaan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet for theft and Kurt Batong Edoc, 37, driver, resident of Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet for bounding check.
