Cleanest, greenest P’sinan towns named



VILLASIS, Pangasinan  – This town was named the cleanest, greenest and safest municipality during a ceremony marking the Pistay Dayat (Sea Festival) celebration in Bugallon May 1.

Aside from Villasis, Mangaldan and Tayug were declared first and second runners-up, respectively, under the contest’s Category A, which included first to third class municipalities.

For Category B, which includes 4th and 5th class municipalities, Sta. Maria town bagged the championship, followed by Balungao and Natividad as first and second runners-up, respectively.

Urdaneta City won under Category C, which includes component cities, followed by Alaminos and San Carlos.

Barangay Arnedo in Bolinao bagged the top spot under Category D for villages, followed by Barangays Nancalobasaan in Urdaneta and David in Mangaldan. 

The winners, who showed support for the provincial government’s advocacy to protect and preserve the environment, received trophies and cash prizes.

The search aimed to increase awareness among communities on the importance of caring for the environment.
