DPWH starts bidding for 135 Ifugao classrooms

LAGAWE, Ifugao —The Department of Public Works and Highways Ifugao Engineering District has started the bidding for construction of 135 classrooms under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund of the Department of Education approved in 2014.

Data gathered from Engineer Lucian Daday, project engineer of DepEd-Ifugao Schools Division, said construction of the 135 classrooms distributed in 27 sites of the 11 municipalities of the province will cost P217,165,244.8.

These are expected to be completed by June next year before opening of school year 2016-2017  for use by  the first batch of the senior high school students under the K-12 educational program.

Daday said under the new strategy that started in 2013  under the joint agreement between the DepEd, DPWH and the Department of Budget and Management, the DPWH was tasked to program and implement construction of school buildings while the DepEd was limited to monitoring and inspection of school projects.

The municipality of Alfonso Lista has the most number of classrooms to be constructed at  26  followed by Lamut with 24, Asipulo- 16, Banaue-14,Tinoc-13, Aguinaldo-10, Hingyon- 8, Kiangan- 8,Hungduan-6, Mayoyao-6 and Lagawe with 4 classrooms.
