TINOC, Ifugao -- The
driver of a vegetable delivery truck who was buried by landslide Tuesday
afternoon here in Barangay Binablayan, Tinoc was still missing as of press
time.
Search and rescue
teams have yet to rescue or recover the victim, identified as Janel Pateyec
Baguista 19, of Gumhang, Tinoc.
The Tinoc municipal
police station said that two trucks loaded with vegetables, including the Elf
truck driven by Bautista, were cruising along the Tinoc-Kiangan road heading to
Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, when they got stuck in the mud at around 5 p.m.
Tuesday.
Bautista, along with
the other truck driver, Bilger Nehyeban, and his helper tried to clear the mounds
of mud from the road when the landslide hit them.
Due to heavy rains, a
landslide was triggered near the location of the drivers.
Nehyeban and his
helper were injured, while Bautista could not be located among the pile of soil
and rocks.
Responding rescuers
from the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council tried to
locate the victim, in vain.
