Valuables stolen from dead’s coffin

STA MARIA, Ilocos Sur – Thieves stole valuable items from the coffin of a dead mother at the town cemetery here last week.

At the cemetery in Barangay Poblacion, still unidentified thieves destroyed the tomb and forcibly opened the coffin of the dead identified as Susan Roldan of Barangay Lingsat.

               Investigation by the police is still ongoing to identify the culprits.

The incident came in the heels after Sherilyn Roldan 27, daughter of the late Susan Roldan resident of Lingsat complained to police the tomb of her late mother at the cemetery was destroyed.

Sherliyn told police the lid of her late mother coffin was forcibly opened by unidentified suspect/s.

Sherilyn told police that her late mother was buried last January 15 and  when they visited it on Jan. 16, the tomb was destroyed and some items were missing.

Few months ago, a tomb in nearby Narvacan town was also destroyed and valuable items inside the coffin were also stolen by a suspect who was later caught.
