Baguio mayor threatens to lock down moma-stained barangays

BAGUIO CITY -- Mayor Benjamin Magalong Thursday ordered the Baguio City Police Office to undertake aggressive drive against unregulated chewing of betel nut or moma in the barangays.
"Barangays will be inspected and the presence of moma spit will be a reason to lockdown said barangay," he said.
The city council approved an ordinance last March 9 that regulates the chewing and spitting of betel nuts in public places and the selling of the same to minors.
This is to promote health and sanitation in the city, according to author Councilor Joel Alangsab.
