DOLE gives P32M for Ifugao workers

LAGAWE, Ifugao --The Dept. of Labor and Employment released more than P32 million through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to three town governments in the province.
    DOLE Ifugao chief Dr. Isabelita Codamon awarded the checks to the LGUS of Alfonso, Kiangan and Lagawe as accredited co-partners in the TUPAD program   to assist   workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
    .The amount is intended for the payment of wages of TUPAD workers who performed social community projects in said municipalities.  
    LGU-Alfonso Lista received P19, 688,616.00 for the 2,656 workers; Kiangan got P956, 019.00 for the 129 workers and P11, 739,024.00 for Lagawe with 1, 584 workers.
    TUPAD workers also received personal protective equipment such as long-sleeved shirt, rubberized hand gloves, face shield and face mask and micro group insurance from the Government Service Insurance System.
    The TUPAD program provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
