Man hacks common-law wife, her 2 kids

ANGELES CITY – A 26-year-old tricycle driver, wanted for murder last February, was arrested June 2 for wounding his live-in partner and her two children in a drunken knife attack the previous night in Mabalacat, this province.

Chief Supt. Arturo G. Cacdac Jr., Police Regional Office 3 said suspect Rannie M. Sumalinog, alias “Tisoy,” of 2242 Hadrian St., Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, has been locked in jail without bail.

Sumalinog was arrested by a team of Angeles City policemen and Criminal Investigation and Detection Team operatives around 3 p.m. in front of an American fastfood outlet in Dau, Mabalacat.

Cacdac said Sumalinog was arrested for allegedly attacking his live-in partner Ruby D. Jordan and her children Ryan James Jordan and Francislyn Jordan with a knife when he got home drunk around 10 p.m.

The three victims, who suffered multiple hack wounds in the body, were first taken to the Ospital ng Angeles na Hospital in Barangay Pampang and then transferred to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital.

When charges of multiple frustrated murder in relation to Republic Acts 9262 and 7610 for being special crimes against women and children were being filed against Sumalinog, police found that he is the prime suspect in a separate murder case.

Senior Supt. Marvin Bolabola, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief for Region 3, said Sumalinog is also the prime suspect in the murder of barangay ex officio Jesus Barrameda, of Pulung Maragul, Angeles City.
