UNICEF extends support to Mt Province programs

BONTOC, Mountain Province — Women and children’s programs in Mountain Province got a boost with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) extending its financial support for two more years starting this year.

This developed after the Six Country Program for Children – the UNICEF’s latest funded program in the country – ended last year.

The UNICEF had been providing financial assistance for health and children programs in the province for almost two decades.

Out of the 24 UNICEF-assisted provinces and cities in the country, six provinces including Mountain Province were given continued financial help from the UN body, according to Dr. Martha Cayad-an, UNICEF program coordinator of the province.

Cayad-an said they have already approved the work and financial plan of Mountain Province for 2010 adding that the sectoral implementers can now request funding for their respective planned activities.
