BCBC sets general election on Feb 12

BAGUIO CITY-- The Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club will hold its annual general elections on Feb. 12from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the BCBC clubhouse here at Wright Park. BCBC past president Ramon “Mondax” Dacawi, chairman of this year's election, said members who are running for any position should file their duly notarized certificate of candidacy at the Public Information Office of City Hall or at the Philippine Information Agency office on or before the deadline on Feb. 10, at 5 p.m.

The following are the positions to be filled up: president; vice president for print, radio and television; secretary; treasurer; auditor and four board of directors.

Candidates and members are required pay P50 annual dues in order to qualify to vote, Dacawi said.

In keeping with tradition, Dacawi said “liquor ban is in force during the conduct of the elections and it will only be retracted upon the orders of the chair. ”

Dacawi cautioned members who are intoxicated they are not allowed to cast their vote and cannot go near the voting area.

Members who are 50 meters away from the voting place during the 3 p.m. deadline will still be allowed to cast their vote, he said.

After closing time, canvassing of votes will be done by the BCBC Commission on Elections, who also sit as board of canvassers.

Aside from Dacawi, other members of the BCBC Comelc are past presidents David March Fianza, Alfred Dizon, Atty. Delmar CariƱo, Robert Tabay and incumbent president MigsVelarde.

“We are encouraging all members to actively participate in the annual general elections of our club and ensure the conduct of an honest, orderly, peaceful elections,” Dacawi said.
