Barlig sets allowance for nurses, midwives

BARLIG, Mountain Province  -- In support to the Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement and Local Services (RNHEALS) program of the Department of Health, the municipal government here has provided its counterpart of P2,000 as additional allowance to RNHEALS nurses assigned in the municipality.

This was reported by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Arlene Ottao during a recent Provincial Health Board meeting.

Ottao said there are five nurses and two midwives deployed in the municipality under RNHEALS last year and each of them were given P2,000.

Their contract ended Feb. 28.

Another seven RNHEALS nurses are deployed this year and they will also receive a monthly P2,000 additional allowance.

The Department of Health provides the monthly allowance of P8,000 to each of the RNHEALS nurses and P6,000 to each of the midwives.

Also, the local government units where the nurses and midwives are assigned are encouraged to provide an additional P2,000.

Aside from its support to RNHEALS nurses and midwives, the municipal government has also allotted last year P500 to each of its 71 barangay health workers in the municipality as cash incentive.
