By Susan Aro

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Jack Dulnuan of the popular  Jack's Restaurant food chain, finally made it to the provincial board  landing at No. 3  three for District 2.

Dulnuan, who ran as congressional representative for Benguet in the in the 2008 polls but lost, said he was happy as he would now be given chance to help people of the province.

He said he would legislate measures that promote livelihood programs especiallyfor the less fortunate.

Dulnuan, a living legend of patience and perseverance, admitted politics was not in his blood but what pushed him to enter the political arena was to share his experience of achieving fortune while being an  inspiration to others.

He narrated he started as houseboy, but persevered to  get out of his impoverished situation.

True enough with sheer determination, he became a successful businessman.

Along the way, he could be seen digging to plant or fertilize vegetables at his farm in Betag, La Trinidad where he later built the Trinidad Valley Institute of |Technology.

His Jack's Rice popularized food toppings, a complete meal with rice, meat and vegetables in La Trinidad and Baguio City.

His chain of restaurants is still one of those most catered to by locals and visitors.

Lately, his family acquired the Jack’s Viewpoint Hotel in Baguio City along Kisad Road.

Business is thriving for the self-made man who has children equally thriving in business or their profession.

There is a solution to poverty only if one is determined to do so, he said.
