CANDABA, Pampanga — At least 6,860 farmers
affected by typhoon Nona Wednesday received financial assistance amounting to
P17, 773,698 from the Pampanga provincial government.
Nona has submerged
13,897.23 hectares of newly planted and ready-to-harvest palay, corn and
vegetables in the six municipalities of the 4th district, according to Vice
Governor Dennis G. Pineda.
Based on the
SanguniangPanlalawigan Resolution No. 4136 promulgated on December 18, 2015,
the farmer-beneficiaries will be given P1,300 each per hectare for a maximum of
five hectares whose farmland has been devastated by typhoon Nona to recover
from losses. Pineda and Mayor Rene Maglanque together with Apalit Mayor Oscar
Tetangco Jr. and other officials began the distribution of aid last Thursday.
