IFSU prof cheats death as van lands on creek


KIANGAN, Ifugao – A professor of the Ifugao State University cheated death after the Mitsubishi Delica with plate number RBH 694 he was driving fell down the road and landed on a creek here at Hahlin, Baginge.
Police identified the victim as Anthony Babkeg Cantes, 52, resident of Mabbalat Poblacion here who was injured on several parts of his body although he is now in stable condition.
A belated report said around 9:10 a.m. of Nov. 14, police received a phone call from a certain Larry Tuguinay Castillo of Mabalante, Baguinge informing them a vehicle fell on the creek at Hahlin.
Responding police led by Lt. Cosme Flores said Cantes came from Lagawe going home to Kiangan.
Upon reaching the place of incident at a curve, he met a tricycle which he evaded but he lost control of the steering wheel. As a result, the vehicle fell on the creek around four meters from the road.
He was brought by responding Kiangan disaster and police officials to Ifugao Provincial Hospital in Lagawe. He was laceration on his left arm and suffered pain on his right chest and legs while the vehicle incurred damages.
