CIDG arrests most wanted suspect in ‘Oplan Pagtugis’

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La
Union –
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 1 nabbed a
most wanted person in Barangay Palihan, Hermosa, Bataan, a report reaching this
camp on Monday said.
Maj. Ronald
D. Patricio, CIDG-RFU1 regional chief officer-in-charge, identified the suspect
as John Wilson A. Trangco, 57, a payloader operator, who currently resides at
Brgy. Palihan, Hermosa Bataan. The suspect has been on the lam, trying to avoid
arrest for rape charges.
“The suspect
was arrested for implementation of warrant of arrest in pursuant to CIDG
flagship project ‘Oplan Pagtugis,” Patricio said.
The operation
was a joint operation of CIDG La Union Police Field Unit (PFU), the Hermosa
Bataan police station, CIDG Bataan, PIB-La Union and 1st PMFC La Union.
The warrant
of arrest was issued by Judge Samuel Martires, acting judge RTC Branch 32,
Agoo, La Union, dated June 30, 2004 with no bail recommended.
It was
learned that prior to his arrest, the suspect was listed as an MPW in the
national level with Department of the Interior and Local Government offering a
P140,000-reward for his arrest.
Suspect was
brought to CIDG La Union for proper documentation and disposition prior to
turned-over to the court of origin.
B’gay chief, councilor hurt in Isabela stabbing incident

A barangay chairman and a councilor were
wounded in a stabbing incident that involved a group of knife-wielding men in
Barangay District 1 in San Manuel, Isabela.
A report from
Police Regional Office (PRO) 2 said that on February 22 at 10 p.m., the
victims identified as barangay chair Ronald Mendoza, 44, and Temestocle Santos
Jr., 49, were going home after having some drinks at the Side by Side Videoke
Bar when their path was blocked by the suspects. Both were residents of
Barangay Babanuang in San Manuel, Isabela.
The victims
alighted from their vehicle to confront the suspects, who proceeded to maul and
stab them.
A certain Ronald Tagle of Ballesteros,
Aurora, Isabela was identified suspect who stabbed the victims, according to
PSSG Nolito I Orani, investigator on case.
“Hindi na
napigilan ni Ronald ang grupo ni SB at kapitan kaya dinaan na ito sa
pananaksak,” the investigator said.
Abra farmer shot dead
BANGUED, Abra -- A farmer was killed in a
gun attack here recently.
Ginely Barbosa, 27, was driving his
tricycle in Barangay Macray when gunmen appeared from a forested area along the
Abra-Kalinga Road and shot him twice.
Barbosa was
brought to the Seares Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Abra Provincial
Hospital, where he died while being treated.
Investigations
into the killing is ongoing.
Teacher stabbed to death
by ex-student

TAYUG,
Pangasinan – A teacher in this town was stabbed to death allegedly by one of
his former students recently.
The body of Arnaldo
Tabucol, 29, of the Sta. Cruz Integrated School in Sta. Maria town in this
province was found in a farm in Barangay Libertad.
Maj. Wilmer Pagaduan,
town police officer-in-charge, said probers are eyeing robbery as the motive,
noting that the victim’s personal belongings and motorcycle are missing.
A Grade 10 student was
among those arrested in a follow-up operation.
Motorcycle driver hits cop at checkpoint in Mangaldan

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – A
member of the Mangaldan Police was rushed to the hospital after sustaining
injuries when a motorcycle rider drove through him at a checkpoint on the
national road in Barangay Poblacion here.
According to the police, Police Chief
Master Sergeant Romeo Liwanag was manning the checkpoint and flagged down
motorcycle rider Gerald Marcial, 21, and a resident of Barangay Pogo here.
Liwanag was
reported to have ordered Marcial to stop because he was not wearing a helmet.
But instead
of yielding, Marcial sped on and even bumped Liwanag who was thrown to the
pavement and sustained injuries.
He was brought to the Pangasinan
Medical Center in Dagupan City.
Marcial tried to speed off from the
scene, but was chased down by responding police who caught up with him in
Barangay Pogo.
2 drug suspects slain in Malolos ‘shootout’

MALOLOS, Bulacan — Two suspected drug
traffickers were killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in San Jose
del Monte City, Bulacan on Tuesday night.
Arjohn
Irena and Carlo Sison died at the scene of the reported encounter that
occurred at around 11 p.m. in Barangay Minuyan Proper.
Irena and
Sison were on the unified watch list of the police and Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency, according to Col. Lawrence Cajipe, acting chief of the
Bulacan police.
The suspects
reportedly drew their guns after sensing they were dealing with undercover
agents.
Police said
they recovered 20 plastic sachets containing shabu, two shotguns and marked
money from the suspects.
Meanwhile, 26
other drug suspects were arrested in anti-illegal drug operations conducted
recently in the cities of Malolos and Meycauayan and in the towns
of Balagtas, Baliwag, Bocaue, Bulakan, Nozagaray, Pulilan and Sta.
Maria.
2 teenagers die in Isabela road accident

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Two
teenagers were killed after the tricycle (korong-korong) they were riding in
collided into a dump truck along a road in Barangay San Placido, Roxas town in
Isabela last Monday.
According to
Roxas Municipal Police, the driver was a Grade 10 student while his passenger
was also 16 years old.
They were
both residents of Barangay Rizal in the same town.
Police said
the accident occurred when the eastbound tricycle suddenly swerved into the
opposite lane with the driver not seeing the incoming dump truck which was
driven by Danilo Anog, 49, a resident of Barangay Sinamar, which is also in
Roxas town.
Due to the
strong impact of the collision, the two teenagers were thrown off the tricycle
as they sustained serious head injuries that resulted in their instantaneous
death.
Anog
immediately surrendered to the Roxas police, and was charged with reckless
imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to property at the
prosecution office.
Two men nabbed for dumping illegal waste

PANDI, Bulacan – With
the Bulacan police committed to carry out the Kaligkasan program of Central
Luzon Police Regional Director Brig. General Rhodel O. Sermonia and assist the
local governments in protecting the environment, two men were arrested for
dumping illegal waste in Barangay Poblacion in this town last Tuesday, February
25.
Police identified those arrested as Romeo
Bernando Cruz, 62, dumpsite caretaker, and Roberto Malaras Diela, a helper.
Based on a
report submitted by Pandi Police Chief Major Joy Placido, personnel of their
station, together with the Kaligkasan volunteer village watchmen, responded to
a complaints that a van was transporting and dumping drums containing domestic,
industrial and commercial toxic chemicals in a remote area of Barangay
Poblacion.
The police
team and the village watchmen caught the suspects in the act of dumping the
waste materials, and were promptly arrested when they could not present
pertinent documents that would have allowed them to discard of the toxic
materials in the area.
However, the
driver of the vehicle escaped.
Recovered
were an empty drum and 35 drums full of toxic waste materials from Transport
Marketing Corporation, Pasig City; and a six-wheeler truck.
A complaint
for violation of Republic Act 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management
Act of 2000, is being prepared against the suspects.
