CAMP DANGWA,Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera reported the surrender of 24 members of the Militia ng Bayan under Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Marco operating within the Western and Eastern part of Mountain Province in Natonin and Bauko towns in Mountain Province.

Regional Director Police Brig. Gen R’win Pagkalinawan,said joint operatives
from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Cordillera, Philippine Army, and
National Intelligence Coordinating Agency-Cordillera (NICA –CAR) accepted the
surrender of the Communist militiamen.
The former
rebels also turned over two Garand rifles, an M16 rifle, a hand grenade, a
handheld radio, and subversive documents when they surrendered on March 29 at
the Natonin Municipal Police Station,.
Nine others
surrendered without firearms at Bauko Municipal Police Station.
Pagkalinawan said the
surrender of the 24 Militia ng Bayan members was a result of the community
relations activities and dialogues initiated by Mountain Province Police
Provincial Office, PRO Cordillera and Military Intelligence, and NICA-CAR in
the Province.
The rebel
returnees are now in the custody of Mountain Province PPO while their papers
are being processed for admission in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local
Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government.
