KIANGAN, Ifugao – Sixteen (16) personalities that were members of the Komiteng Larangang Guerilya-Leonardo Pacsi Command of which five (5) of them were alleged Militia ng Bayan (MB) members and eleven (11) were New People’s Army (NPA) supporters successively and voluntarily appeared and surrendered to the government forces in Mountain Province in the later works of March 2020.
Successive appearance and voluntary surrender of these sixteen (16) personalities were the consolidated result of the joint AFP-PNP Community Support Program conducted by the troops of 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion and PNP personnel of Mountain Province Police Provincial Office bringing with them the following items and war materiel; one (1) M60 Machine gun, one (1) Caliber 7.62mm AK47, one (1) M16 rifle, two (2) calibre 30 M1 garand rifle, one (1) hand grenade, one (1) ICOM HH radio and other subversive documents.
According to LTC NARCISO B NABULNEG JR, Battalion Commander, 54IB “I commend these personalities who courageously appeared before the government forces with the assistance of concerned citizens and LGUs. The surrender of assorted high and low powered firearms and other war materiel is also a clear manifestation that armed struggle only puts everyone in harm’s way, further complicates everything and destroys everyone’s bright future. Let us instead build our lives, pursue our dreams and support the government’s campaign in attaining long and lasting peace in our localities”, LTC NABULNEG JR added.
