Girl, 7, youngest COVID-19 fatality in Pangasinan

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan – Mayor Constante Agbayani announced the first case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case in this town, and the subsequent death of the patient.
“It was confirmed by the Pangasinan Health Office last night, March 31 based on the results of a review conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine,” said in his statement.
According to Agbayani, the COVID-19 patient was a seven-year-old girl from Barangay Inmalog Sur, who was confined on March 26 at the La Union Medical Center (LUMC) in Barangay Nazareno, Agoo, La Union. But she died the same day.
Agbayani said the immediate cause of her death was listed as “Hypovolemic Shock” with antecedent causes “Acute Gastroenteritis” and “Severe Dehydration”. Underlying cause was “Pediatric Community Acquired Pneumonia, T / C COVID-19”
On Wednesday , Agbayani said Barangay Inmalog Sur was placed under extreme community quarantine.
San Fabian local government, with the Municipal Health Office, is now conducting contact tracing on the person who may have interacted with the victim.
              “Manatili po tayong kalmado at makiisa sa lahat ng mga alituntunin na ipinapatupad ng ating local na pamahalaan upang mapigilan ang pagkalat at mapuksa ang COVID-19. Manalangin po tayo sa Poong Maykapal na ating malampasan ang pagsubok na ito at sana gumaling na po ang mga pasyente na nagkakasakit sanhi ng COVID-19.” he said.
