CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva
Ecija — Governor Aurelio Umali disclosed on Tuesday that nine
local transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was documented for the
first time in the province, raising the total confirmed cases to 15.
“For the
first time, the local transmission of Covid-19 was registered in the province.
Local transmission is something that we are really afraid of because the virus
might spread rapidly. That is why, it is very important to stay home,” the
governor said in his briefing via live stream
Umali said
that four of the new patients were doctors, and one was a nurse. Three of these
doctors were from Gapan City, while the other one and the nurse were from this
city.
The other
patients were from Laur and San Antonio towns, and both had travel history to
Manila; one was from Licab town who was first admitted at the Chinese General
Hospital in Manila; and one was from this city who had travel history to
France.
According to
latest report of the Nueva Ecija Task Force on COVID-19, there are 271 patients
under investigation (PUIs) in the province, with 41 already discharged, while
six have died. Also, it was reported that 16,618 persons under monitoring
(PUMs) were still undergoing the 14-day quarantine.
“By staying
at home, we are doing a lot in curbing the rising number of Covid-19 in our
province. Please be serious in our call to stay home,” Umali said.
Meanwhile,
the governor said that 16 new pick-up trucks were recently turned over by the
city government to boost efforts in implementing the Luzon-wide enhanced
community quarantine.
Central Luzon
Police Director Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, who received on Saturday the Nissan
Navara pick-up trucks from Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara, described the donation
as timely.

that 24 more mobile patrol cars from the Philippine National Police (PNP) were
on their way to the province
