Kalinga DPWH sets up decontamination stations against Covid



DECONTAMINATION of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital every Tuesday and Thursday.

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga – The two districts of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) here join the fight against COVID-19 through  decontamination and sanitization of three targets.
 The three targets which are possible carriers of the dreaded virus are  people, converged areas and vehicles.
Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office OIC District Engineer Ruby Uyam  said helping sanitize people, decontaminate converge areas and disinfect  vehicles is part of their contribution to the  :whole-of-nation approach “ of combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.  She said a team from the skeletal force iwith a nurse conduct the decontamination procedure.

Converge areas  that are already decontaminated are  the DPWH district offices, the DSWD-Social Welfare and Development Office (SWAD), Block 3 Police Substation (Bulanao) and the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH).
Decontamination  at the  KPH  will be done  twice a week every Tuesday and Thursday, Uyam said
The Agbannawag Evacuation Center will also be decontaminated before its turn-over.
To serve many clients this period of the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), both districts are putting up three gantries to house manually operated disinfection sprinkler – one at the Baligatan Bridge (Bulanao), one in front of Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office and one at Balani to disinfect passing vehicles.

Adhering to their core value of “health first”, both district offices also established sanitation tent at their respective entrance gates to sanitize their employees before entering the compound. Beside the sanitation tent is also an inhalation tent for employees with respiratory trouble.
Uyam said interested parties may request their services for decontamination or for putting up of sanitation tent in converged areas or in offices. They can call  at cellphone number 09175199874 or approach any of t personnel, Uyam said. 
In support to relief operations, both districts offered six of their dump trucks to haul relief goods to municipalities and other emergencies.
Meanwhile, Uyam disclosed that both districts suspended all their on-going construction contracts during the ECQ. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
