LAOAC,Pangasinan – This
municipality reported its first confirmed COVID-19 positive on Thursday, April
9, that led to an order being issued by Mayor Ricardo Balderas to impose a
total lockdown on the barangay where the patient resides.
In a statement, Balderas
bared that the first COVID-19 positive in the town was a healthcare worker, who
was a resident of Barangay Poblacion.
The total
lockdown on Barangay Poblacion will last until April 24.
All entry and
exit points of the barangay will be closed, while all residents were strictly
advised to undergo home quarantine.
“As a
frontliner, she acquired the virus from the hospital located outside our town
where she is working.” Balderas said.
The health
worker was tested April 6, and the result for her test came out positive on
April 9.
The health
worker was found to be asymptomatic, and was advised to undergo strict home
quarantine, while strictly being monitored by the Laoac Municipal Health
Officer.
Balderas also
assured his constituents that their safety will remain as his top priority.
“We are
sharing this information for public awareness so that proper precautions will
be observed. We hope for you full cooperation so that we can prevent the
further spread of the virus.” he added.
