P12.6-M marijuana uprooted in Kalinga, Ifugao plantations


CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Some 63,220 fully grown Marijuana plants worth over 12.6 million were destroyed by police and drug agents last week in Kalinga and Ifugao.
              In Kalinga, some 63,200 Marijuana plants worth P12,640,000 were discovered in Loccong, Tinglayan town on July 4.
This was the result of the Oplan 07 Hawk Pumadcha implemented by the joint personnel of police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents from Regions 1, 2 and Cordillera.
In Ifugao, 20 marijuana plants valued at P4,000 was discovered and uprooted  in Awa, Ahin, Tinoc town on July 5.
The operation was launched after a concerned citizen reported the  illegal plants to Ifugao police and PDEA agents.
Regional police director said intelligence operations and eradication campaigns are being done regularly in the region to boost government campaign against illegal drugs.
