Gov’t employee-writer shot dead in Pangasinan

SAN JACINTO, Pangasinan – An employee of the local government here was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman early Tuesday morning. San Jacinto Police Chief Maj. Edgar Allan Serquina identified the victim as Ofelia Castillo, 56, a resident of Barangay San Jose.
She was the town’s head of the Human Resource (HR) department, and was a former news writer at a local radio station in Pangasinan.
Serquina said that, at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Castillo was on the way to work on a tricycle driven by her son when a still unidentified man onboard a scooter tailed them and shot her.
Two gun shots were heard, with one hitting the victim in the head.
