Man stabs dead sister-in-law in Ilocos Sur town

CATALINA, Ilocos Sur — Authorities here on Tuesday reported they arrested a man who stabbed his
sister-in-law more than 50 times on Monday night at Barangay Tamorong here.
Initial reports from the Sta. Catalina police revealed that the suspect — identified as Jimmy Ramos, stabbed his sister-in-law identified as Marilyn Ramos because the suspect was harboring an old grudge.
The suspect allegedly used an improvised ice pick to stab the victim dead.
Investigations disclosed that prior to the stabbing incident, the suspect and the victim had a heated argument until the victim ran away towards the house of a neighbor identified as Herminio Rabena.
In his rage, the suspect followed the victim and stabbed her several times.
The victim was rushed to the Metro cooperative hospital in Vigan but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Sta. Catalina PNP.

Man in P2.3-M drug bust jumps to Chico River
TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Police led by the
Regional Intelligence Division and Drug Enforcement Agency elements arrested a
man here in an entrapment operation for illegal drugs.
Provincial police director Col. Davy Vicente Limmong, identified the suspect as Ruben Appag, 27, of Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga. The marijuana plants and bricks reportedly weighed 23 kilos and valued at P2,760,000.
According to reports, the suspect sensed he will be transacting with a police officer, so he tried to escape by jumping from a ravine to the Chico River.

Lawmen immediately
pursued the suspect and found Appag lying near a riverbed.
Authorities called the Bureau Fire Protection to help rescue the suspect who
incurred several injuries as a result of the jump.
Confiscated items from
the suspect included two bags of marijuana and 19 pieces in brick form.
During the inventory
of the pieces of evidence recovered, the witnesses were Kagawads of Barangay Loccong,
a media, and a DOJ representative.
Appag was brought to
Kalinga Provincial Hospital for treatment while charges for violation of
Republic Act 9165 or the comprehensive dangerous drugs act of 2002 was filed
against him.

suspects were killed in anti-drug operations in this province on April 9.
Col. Jaime Santos, Nueva Ecija police acting director, said Dickson Billones and Roberto de la Cruz engaged law enforcers, who posed as buyers of shabu, in a shootout in Barangay Carmen in Zaragoza town and Talipapa in Cabanatuan, respectively.
Police said a Cal. 38 revolver, 14 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P10,000 and marked money were recovered from Billones.

8 men nabbed for gambling; P47-K bet money seized
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Police arrested eight individuals caught
gambling at Sitio Turod, Barangay Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra on April 10. Police
confiscated from the suspects bet money
worth P46,708, two dice, two saucers, small bowl, PVC pipe used as
"tubong" and broken plastic table.

Abra police director in his report said,
cops received a call from a concerned citizen about illegal gambling at
the site.
Cops immediately
responded and caught the suspects playing, “dado” a dice game.
Arrested suspects were brought to Abra Provincial Hospital for medico-legal
examination and later to Bangued police station
with the seized items.
Suspects are facing
charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling).
