VIGAN CITY -- Seven more people died from Covid-19 in Ilocos Sur, bringing the death toll in the province to 24.
Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis V. Singson announced in a statement that the youngest Covid-19-related death in the province was a 28-year-old female from barangay Apatot in San Esteban town.
She died at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital-Gabriela Silang (ISPH-GS) on May 6 with final diagnosis of Covid-19 critical.
Meanwhile, the city of Candon recorded three new deaths each from barangays San Isidro, San Jose and Paypayad.
The San Isidro fatality was the latest Covid-19 death in the province.
He was a 70-year-old male who died on May 17 due to acute coronary syndrome, non ST elevation, myocardial infarction, community acquired pneumonia, high risk, sepsis, and severe Covid-19.
The two other deaths
in the city were also male senior citizens who suffered from acute respiratory
distress syndrome; and acute respiratory failure and pneumonia or related
ailments.
The municipality of
Bantay logged two new deaths: a 43-year-old male from Barangay Zone 3 and a
69-year-old female from barangay Zone 5.
The municipality of
Sta. Cruz recorded its second Covid-19 death – a 60-year-old male from barangay
Lantag who died on May 13.
Gov. Singson, in his
statement, said he condoles with the patients’ families, relatives and friends
in this difficult time.
He urged the public to
follow public health standards set by the Dept. of Health, especially with the
rising number of Covid-19 cases in the province.
