LTO warns drivers of license scam

By Larry T. Lopez

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga -- The provincial Land Transportation Office (LTO) has warned drivers of a certain website offering online processing of  driver’s license application saying this is a scam.
LTO Provincial Officer Jenelyn Angog said the standard procedure in driver’s license application requires personal appearance of applicants for their biometric profiling and this has not been replaced.
Angog called on applicants to appear personally at the LTO and not be lured to any offer online.
LTO-issued driver’s license cards bear bar-code for authenticity, lest, fake, she added.
Meanwhile, the LTO provincial office reported P8 million collection from January to April this year.
The average rate in daily transactions has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Angog explained.
She said car owners with plate number ending in 4 are given extension until May 30 to renew registration of their vehicles. -PIA Kalinga
