LTO to open district office in Alfonso Lista

By March L. Fianza

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao -- The Land Transportation Office Cordillera will soon open a new extension office here to serve motorists from the Ifugao municipalities of Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista and Mayoyao and Natonin and Paracelis in Mountain Province.
Ifugao Rep. Solomon R. Chungalao requested the establishment of the Alfonso Lista extension office from LTO ASec. Edgar C. Galvante during a congressional budget hearing on September 19, 2019 following an earlier request during his first term in 2003 with then LTO Assistant Secretary Anneli R. Lontoc.
LTO Regional Director Francis Ray A. Almora said, the establishment of an extension office would lessen the travel time of LTO clients from the five municipalities who would no longer go to the LTO offices in Lagawe or Bontoc for their registration and licensing transactions.
The district office in Lamut will continue to serve the municipalities of Asipulo, Banaue, Hingyon, Hungduan, Lagawe, Kiangan and Tinoc.
The Alfonso Lista office is the second extension office in CAR since the creation of LTO 33 years ago. LTO Apayao was the first extension office that was created in 1994 that was converted to a regular district office on December 4, 2012 after Republic Act 10347 was signed into law.
Among the services to be offered are renewal of registration of vehicle, renewal of driver’s license, student permit and conductor’s permit.
Almora said the building that was constructed for the new district office in Santa Maria Poblacion in Alfonso Lista would be used under a usufruct agreement with the local government unit.
He said, the opening of the district office to be headed by Engr. Norman C. Dupli is timely this pandemic considering that movement of people and motorists are limited and restricted. – MaFia/JoCa
