Baguio gov’t sends aid to Banaue landslide victims

BAGUIO CITY -- The local government granted financial assistance amounting to P500,000 from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office’s quick response fund to the municipality of Banaue, Ifugao which was badly hit by southwest monsoon that caused floods and landslides in the said locality.
    Under Ordinance No. 49, series of 2022, the grant of the aforesaid financial assistance to Banaue, Ifugao is in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 7160 or the Local government Code of the Philippines.
     Some 1,052 families from 9 barangays were affected by the said incident where 1,047 families lost their dwellings.
    Earlier, the Banaue municipal council placed the whole municipality under state of calamity because of the aforesaid incident by virtue of Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 61, series of 2022.
    The amount of P500,000 representing the city’s financial assistance to Banaue, Ifugao was certified available by the local finance committee where the same will be charged to the quick response fund under the CDRRMO of this year. - Dexter A. See
